CNY News Coverage on Bukit Antarabangsa

28th January 2009 (third day of Chinese New Year), RTM 1 Mandarin News 8 pm Chinese New Year special coverage on Bukit Antarabangsa: My family and I were interviewed and it was aired on RTM 1Mandarin News. The actual interview took about total of 4 hours. I was trying to put through a lot more emphasizing the urgency for state government and MPAJ as well as Superview to rectify the immediate situation of the slope. What you see in this 2.38 minutes coverage has been very much edited. I was very much taken by surprise that my son, Edred even pleaded to MPAJ to immediately look into this problem. RTM & Malay Mail

9.30 am
Did a small coverage (RTM-Mandarin) for the coming CNY. Message; CNY will not be the same for all evacuees in our new places as we are still adjusting and our main worries are our 'abandoned' properties. Wish and hope for this CNY is to be able to go back to our homes for 2010 CNY.
1 pm
- Malay Mail at Wangsa 9:
  1. Highlighted theft attempt on house No. 31 on Saturday 17 January.
  2. Readdressed slope issues.
  3. Requested authorities to put back electricity, water (which temporary can easily be solved), upkeep the cleanliness of Wangsa 9 and most importantly police booth at emergency exit. All these have been repeatedly reminded and it has come to a stage we need the media.
  4. Maintenance of water tank at Wangsa 7 which holds approximately 130 000 sq3m precariously located at the slope edge of 80 deg.
  5. Timely Mrs How house no. 31 (showing the evidents) and Mr & Mrs Hon house No. 1 were present, so they were also been interviewed.
  6. JKR first month report which we expected to be notified is now overdue. We have to constantly create public awareness. We have tried our level best to deal amicably with respective authorities but responses are lame. We want positive responds with given time frame. We have waited , waiting and no longer want to wait anymore! All these waitings leave us no choice that we have to resort to the press and media. We are in need of solutions... We are just striving for our OWN RIGHTS to go back to our homes with LONG TERM SAFETY.

Will follow up on the administration of rental subsidy with our local counsel tomorrow. I had mentioned and asked specifically on this matter at least two times but no one has come back to me. We would like to know when is the date of the payment effected and what are the required documents. My understanding is payment will be made before CNY yet we have not been informed on how to go about it. All these angered the residents.

Looting Attempts at Wgsa 9

11.09 pm
Dear residents,
At 8.45 pm , I was in a shopping mall with my family (1st time since the mudslide) wanting to do CNY shopping when Ganesan, our gardener and caretaker called to inform me:
- house 31 water filter pipe was cut and some screws were taken out with the clear attempt of stealing.

IMMEDIATE ACTIONS -

  1. Called TYDP MPAJ to reach out MPAJ tent (24hrs) to send someone to tighten the security. I had requested for the police to be stationed at emergency exit many times to the attention of MPAJ, YB Adun office, MB's office, YB MP Ampang and local counsel. Residents themselves made personal effort too. To date nothing has been done. It is a tradition that our BOLEH always wait for something to happen first.
  2. Informed the respective owners to check and make police report which when I was at the site, owner of house No. 31 was already making his police report at the police station.
  3. Called Raymond to see if he could go to site.
  4. With such disruption, I decided to go to site. The police escorted my husband and I to the end of Jalan Wangsa 9 at about 9.20 pm. Raymond came and we concluded that we need more lightings and Ray will see OCPD tomorrow.

Tomorrow I shall be in Bukit Antarabangsa with RTM to do a small coverage in conjunction to CNY. The press is keen to be there too.

YENHEE

Follow up : MPAJ & Superview

Wednesday 7th Jan 09
1.04 pm

As at 12.10 pm:
  1. I received feedback from MPAJ that developer had replied to them with numerous conditions MPAJ has to comply. MPAJ has to bring this to the attention of state goverment. Conditions were not reveal to us. I requested for MPAJ to meet with committee but was declined.
  2. I checked on the rental subsidy - still no news from MPAJ.
  3. We insisted on water, electricity and Wangsa 9 to be kept clean. WE HAVE WAITED LONG ENOUGH IN HOPE TO RECEIVE SOME IMMEDIATE ACTIONS TO BE TAKEN BUT IN VAIN. We will now proceed with our letter (as discussed in Wangsa 9 meet on 28dec08 hillside rest).

The letter was been drafted by Tengku who is liasing with Chek and myself. we still have a couple of things to tie up on legal implications. This letter mainly to address IMMEDIATE rectification of slope will require your signatories together with the whole residents of Taman Wangsa Ukay . We have the full support from Tuan Syed (chairman of Wangsa Heights Condo), Henry (Jalan Wangsa 7) and also Antheneaum, Jalan Wangsa 3, 5, 5b and 11.

We will have to call for a meet for the whole Taman Wangsa Ukay AGENDA:

  1. Signatures for letter
  2. To form 'our 'committee which will be headed by Tuan Syed. We would want to highlight our plights to the media who understand our grieviences.

SMALL REMINDER: please check your letters that are in Restaurant Wangsa Ukay.

Latest Update - 6th Jan

Tuesday 6th January 2009
1.53 pm :

Hi, Wangsa Nines, sorry for the short silence, I was shifting a few days back and still sorting out to settle down and school started... I cannot deny how stressful life has been since 6 December! One way or another I have heard all sorts of problems faced by my fellow neighbours, rather unlimited! Trust me, we are in the same boat so please stay together.

I have been doing my regular follow up but due to personal commitments I have no posted them in the web. I would appreciate it if you can refer to my blog: yenhee.blogspot.com for updates to minimise Angie trying to reach everyone. Thank you, Angie.

To summarise 2 major concerns at hand:

  1. Immediate rectification of slope
  2. Aid on rental (up to RM 1,000). Of course, water, electricity, cleanliness and police security to be stationed at emergency exit of Wangsa 9 are already being pursued on repeated occasions but it looks like going back to square one. Everything was last brought up officially on 31st December 2008.

Please do check on any new cracks in your property if there is any and please do proper reporting in black and white with JKR. House no. 11 (Bismi) reported on 4th January 2009.

With reference to the above I was made to understand that MPAJ has given time to the superview to come back to them by latest 6th January 2009 (Tuesday). Today's close-door meeting the developer will need to refer to their board for approval. JKR has agreed with the developer on the option of rectification of the slope which we have yet to confirm with JKR. JKR has proposed 3 options. The committee will have a meeting soon with MPAJ to follow up with the details.
On a separate matter, chief op has been discharged yesterday evening and was at the site instantly.
